Junior Professor Chair position : Biological Chemistry Applied to Eco-/Biocatalysis and the Environment
Deadline: early September 2026.
CNRS is opening a Junior Professor Chair in ECOBIOCAT, at the interface between CNRS Chemistry and CNRS Ecology & Environment, to recruit a researcher at one of the following four laboratories:
- Molecules of Communication and Adaptation of Microorganisms Laboratory (MCAM), Paris
- Bio-Inspired Chemistry and Ecological Innovation Laboratory (ChimEco), Montpellier
- Chemistry and Biology of Metals Laboratory (LCBM), Grenoble
- Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physico-Chemistry for Environment and Materials (IPREM), Pau
The proposed research project should demonstrate originality and the potential to advance the state of the art. The chair will explore biodiversity (plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms) and its (bio)synthetic capabilities to promote high-performance, circular chemistry.
The objective is to identify molecules and their biosynthetic pathways, arising from symbiotic interactions or adaptations to environmental stresses, in order to develop innovative tools for chemical synthesis, environmental remediation, and industrial applications.
Understanding these mechanisms will enable new approaches in synthetic biology and bio-inspired chemistry, leading to natural or nature-inspired solutions that integrate biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and the sustainable management of scarce resources.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the host laboratories before applying.
